Robert Henry Morse, 85, of Burlington, died 4:20 p.m. Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Pioneer Park in Lone Tree, Iowa.
Born on December 22, 1932 in Burlington, he was the son of Fred and Mary Agnes (Moyer) Morse. He married Judith Lee Davis, July 9, 1958 in Burlington.
Robert was a Union Plumber and Pipefitter for many years. He was a member of Plumber and Pipefitter Union # 212 and attended the Open Bible Church. He was an Army veteran.
Robert was an all-state running back for the BHS, 1952 football team, which was the number one football team in the state that year.
Robert was a great man, husband, dad and grandpa. He loved to travel all over the United States, either in his Winnebago or on his Gold Wing motorcycle. One of his favorite locations was the Grand Canyon. He loved bicycling as well, and even drove the Bickel's Bicycle bus for RAGBRAI. He loved to craft and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife Judith Morse of Burlington; one daughter, Lynn Loan of Iowa City; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Delbert (JudyAnn) Morse of Burlington; one sister Dorothy Smith of Burlington; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter Cynthia Stambaugh.
The funeral service for Mr. Morse will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 2nd at Lunning Chapel. The Rev. JudyAnn Morse will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 1st at Lunning Chapel.
According to his wishes, cremation will be accorded following the funeral service. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Purple and Gray Foundation.
