Mrs. Thelma Irene McConahay, 80, of West Burlington died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at Burlington Care Center. Born May 4, 1931 in Davis County, she was the daughter of Carl L. and LeeOla G. Lough Jackson. On September 18, 1987 she married Keith R. McConahay in West Burlington. Mrs. McConahay was a graduate of Pulaski High School. She was an inspector at Champion Spark Plug for 35 years, retiring in 1992. Mrs. McConahay was a member of West Burlington United Methodist Church where she also sang in the church choir and Silver Singers. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers and cooking. Survivors include her husband, Keith McConahay of West Burlington; two sons, Daniel Morse of Burlington and Timothy Morse of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Marilee (Rick) Deering of Fort Madison; one step daughter, Holly Cherveny of Durant; one step son, Mark (Kim) McConahay of Granger; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Helen Sample of Bloomfield and one brother, Carl Jackson of West Burlington. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law Maxine Jackson and brother-in-law Ralph Sample.The memorial funeral service for Mrs. McConahay will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 10th, in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Tim Frasher will officiate. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.Memorials have been established for West Burlington United Methodist Church and Great River Hospice.
According to Mrs. McConahay's wishes, cremation has been accorded.
