Keith R. McConahay, 75, of West Burlington, died 10:32 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington.
Born May 9, 1939 in Wapello, IA, he was the son of Alvin Russell "Pete" and Blanche C. (Marshall) McConahay. He married Bonnie Koch on November 24, 1962, they later divorced. He then married Thelma Irene Morse on September 18, 1987. She died December 7, 2011.
Keith was an Electrician with I.A.A.P for 23 years, retiring in 2001. He then worked as groundskeeper for Flint Hills Golf Course until 2014. He was a Navy veteran, serving from 1957-1961.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the American Legion and loved to golf. Keith enjoyed watching his grandkids, official and extended family, play in their various sports and activities. It gave him great joy for all of them to call him Grampa Keith.
He is survived by one daughter, Holly Cherveny of Durant, IA; one son, Mark (Kim) McConahay of Granger, IA; two step-sons; Daniel Morse of Burlington and Timothy Morse of Cedar Rapids; one step-daughter, Marilee Deering of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Perkins of Morning Sun and Phyllis McKinney of Wapello; one brother, Larry (Jo) McConahay of Iowa City and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Thelma, two brothers and two sisters.
The memorial funeral service for Mr. McConahay will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 14th at Messiah Lutheran Church. The Rev. Susanne Smith will officiate. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13th in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends.
A memorial has been established for Messiah Lutheran Church.
According to his wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
