Mr. Cecil A. "Sonny" Morris, 75, of West Burlington died at 8:30 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2017, at Blair House.
Born March 5, 1942 in Burlington, he was the son of Cecil S. and Violet Gladys (Craig) Morris. On May 23, 1964 he married Sharon K. Vikturek at Santa Fe United Methodist Church in Fort Madison.
Mr. Morris was a 1960 graduate of Burlington High School and attended Burlington Junior College. He was an Army veteran serving is Laos, Thailand and Hawaii.
Mr. Morris was the materials manager at US Borax and Dial Corp. until his retirement. He had over 40 plus years with the two companies.
Mr. Morris was of the Methodist faith, was a life member of V.F.W. and NRA, past member of the Burlington Bowling League and served as past president of Tri-State Traffic Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon K. Morris of Burlington; one brother, Garry Sumpter of Burlington; two sisters, Nancy D. Hull of Burlington and Sandra Eisenbarger of King City, Missouri and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Rex.
The graveside inurnment for Mr. Morris will be at a later date in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
According to Cecil's wishes cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel.
