Charlene Helen Mooney, 81, of Burlington, died at 9:57 PM, Tuesday, October 31, 2006, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born September 15, 1925, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Milton C. and Helen B. Brandes Gantz. On November 8, 1946, she married Wayne E. Mooney in Burlington. He died June 24, 1983. Mrs. Mooney was a dental assistant for Dr. Paul Hippe on South Main Street. She then was an office manager for Dr. Edward Ostertag. She was a 1943 graduate of Burlington High School. She was of the Methodist faith. On November 14, 1990, she became a member of T.T.T. She was a volunteer for Great River Medical Center in the gift shop. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, collecting antiques, was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan, and especially enjoyed crafts Survivors include two daughters, Linda (Jim) Deets and Karen (Richard) Lyon, both of Burlington; three grandchildren, Kelly (Rick) Johnson, Brian Wolgemuth, and Casey Olson; six great-grandchildren, Kyla, Courtney, Payton, and Elle Johnson, Calvin Olson, and Benjamin Wolgemuth; two sister-in-laws, Betty Gantz of Burlington and Sharon Wiese of St. Charles, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Visitation will begin at noon Thursday, November 2, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM. The Funeral Service for Mrs. Mooney will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, November 3, in the Chapel of the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Chaplain Randy Gearhart officiating. Interment will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery.
