Gladys L. Walker Charbonneaux Moneysmith, 82, of Burlington, died at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport. Born July 19, 1917, in Huron Township, Des Moines County, she was the daughter of Austin and Hazel Bailey Walker. Mrs. Moneysmith attended Mediapolis High School. She worked as a guard at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Auxiliary. She and Irma Jamison were first place winners at the State Women's Senior Doubles in 1991, and she was inducted into the Burlington Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1997-98. She was an avid golfer and belonged to several card clubs. Survivors include three daughters, Joyce Butler of Mediapolis, Yvonne Gray of Gladstone, Ill., and Leola Ulrich of New Orleans; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gwenn Holsteen and Kathryn Youngman, both of Mediapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son and one great-granddaughter. Visitation will begin at noon today in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 .m. The funeral for Mrs. Moneysmith will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Lunning Chapel, with the Revs. John Gaulke and David Rogula officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
