Herman "Pete" Richard Milton, 97, of Burlington, died at 7:05 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2008, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born June 5, 1910, in Burlington, he was the son of Charles E. and Alice Jacobson Milton. On May 6, 1945, he married Dorothy Louise Simonson in Burlington. Mr. Milton was a truck driver for Miller Construction Co. and worked for CB&Q Railroad Shops for 45 years. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the Eagle's Club for 55 years and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed annual Army reunions and gardening. Survivors include his wife; one stepson, Paul Riley Green of Campbellsville, KY; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. Tyrone Henderson officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
