Lyman L. Millizer, 66, of Burlington died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born Jan.13, 1941, in Burlington, he was the son of Clarence and Bertha Polson Millizer. On April 14, 1986, he married Dale Allen in Monmouth, Ill. Mr. Millizer was a 1959 graduate of G&O High School in Gladstone, Ill. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in June 2001. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge and the Burlington Gym. He was a Cubs, Bears and University of Illinois fan. He enjoyed camping, the river, fishing and playing pool. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Keith Millizer of Avon, Ill., and Lyman Dean Millizer of Danville; one daughter, Sheila Owens of Burlington; three step-daughters, Amy Echevarria of Wise, Va., Anne Mann of Warsaw, Ill., and Virginia Fisher; one stepson, J.R. Allen of Burlington; nine grandchildren; 17 stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Doris Peterson and Eileen Schmeiser, both of Burlington, and Bonnie Keever of Oquawka, Ill. He was preceded in death by one son and his parents. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Millizer will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. John Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. There will be a wake at Joe's Inn following the burial. A memorial has been established.
