Obituary
Leon William Bauer, 65, of 512 Summer, died Thursday in Veteran’s hospital, Iowa City, after a 4-year illness.
He was born Feb. 15, 1894, in Burlington, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John N. Bauer. Feb. 26, 1927, he married Ruth Greene in Independence, Mo. He had worked for the Burlington railroad for 15 years at St. Joseph, MO. He was a member of the Reformed Church of Latter Day Saints, a WWI veteran, and a member of the DAV.
Surviving are his wife; three sisters, Mrs. Lula Rayer, Mrs. Sophie Lee, and Mrs. Alma Bierman, all of Burlington, and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers, George, Henry, and Morris are dead.
Services will be Saturday at 2:30 pm in Giles Funeral home. Elder Zunker and Elder Dale Moon will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening between 7 & 9 pm
