Mrs. Claudine Witte Bates, the wife of Lee E. Bates, died at the Base Hospital, Great Lakes Naval Training Station, Thursday morning at 2:50 following an extended illness.
She was born at Eldon, July 22, 1911, the daughter of Charles E. and Olive Williamson Witte, and was married to Lee E. Bates. She was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include her husband; one son by a previous marriage, Donald Nelson; one granddaughter; two brothers, Donald Witte, Bowers Hall, Va., and Therold Witte, San Diego, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. Betty Lou Whittles, El Cajon, Calif.
Her parents, a brother and a daughter are dead.
The body will be brought to Prugh’s chapel Friday. Funeral services will be held in Prugh’s Chapel, Tuesday morning at 10:00. Dr. G. Dempster Yinger will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
