Obituary
Mr. John Meth Jr., 86, of West Burlington, died at 1:15 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2012, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born May 14, 1926 in Burlington he was the son of John Sr. and Mabel Wahl Meth. On June 26, 1949 he married Darlene Kessel in Fairfield. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2010. Mr. Meth worked in sales management for Frito-Lay for 30 years. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He was a do-it- yourself handyman and a self taught man. He loved traveling with his wife, Darlene and his family. He also was an avid reader and Iowa Hawkeye fan. Survivors include two sons, Roy (Barb) Meth of Ankeny and Larry (Barb) West Burlington; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Bettie (Chuck) Cross of Grand Junction, Colorado; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Maxine Wigginton; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and two sisters. Friends may call after 8:00 a.m. Monday, July 23rd, in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 a.m. The funeral service for Mr. Meth will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 23rd, in Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Jane Willan officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
