Robert L. “Bob” Bash, of West Burlington, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, at his home.
Born Oct. 25, 1935, in Kahoka, M., he was the son of Glenn E. and Lelia Baird Bash. On June 10, 1978, he married Margery J. Butts Bernhart in Oquawka, Ill.
Mr. Bash was a millwright and worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 13 years.
He was a 1954 graduate of Burlington High School. He was a member of West Burlington United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge, Fraternal Order of Eagles, VFW Post 10102, Patriot Lodge AF & AM, Chapter E, God Wind Road Riders Association, Coast Guard Auxiliary, West Burlington Police Reserve for 10 years, and Navy Reserves from 1980 to 1986. He was an Air Force Veteran, serving from 1955 to 1959.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Annette Leonhard of Kahoka, Mo.; one son, Duane E. Bash of Moberly, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Jennifer Williams of Burlington; two stepsons, Tim Bernhart and Jeff Bernhart, both of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his mother, Lelia Shultz of Jefferson City, Mo.; and one brother, Richard D. Bash of Jefferson City, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his father, one grandson, and one half brother.
Visitation will begin after 8 am Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.
The funeral for Mr. Bash will be at 7:30 pm Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Jack Wolgamuth officiating. Masonic rites will at 7:30 pm by Patriot Lodge AF & AM. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery on Wednesday at 2:00 by VFW Post 10102 at the graveside.
