Bonnie Darlene Meck, 83, of Burlington, died Thursday, August 18, 2011, in Branson, MO. Born August 9, 1928, in Newton, IA, she was the daughter of Victor A. and Bonnie Margaret Harper Samuelson. On February 14, 1959, she married Lee C. Meck in Atalissa, IA. Darlene had been a clerk at Bock's Flower Shop and later at Ace Florist. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where she helped in the kitchen with church functions. She had volunteered at the Great River Medical Center Heart and Vascular Department. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, flowers, feeding and watching birds, and especially loved being with her family. Survivors include her husband, Lee; one son, Rickey (Kathy) Meck of Denmark; three grandchildren, Kyle Meck, Matthew Meck, and Shawna Sylvester; one great-grandson, Hunter Coakley; four brothers, Art (Mary) Samuelson of Tipton, IA, Keith (Shirley) Samuelson of Durant, IA, Dennis (Linda) Samuelson of Tipton, IA, and Leo (Mary) Samuelson of Moscow, IA; two sisters, Betty (Eddie) Lett of Tipton, IA, and Vera (Richard) Smith of West Liberty, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Victor, and one sister, Emma Jean Simmons. Visitation will be from noon until 6:00 p.m., with the family to receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2011, at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mrs. Meck will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2011, at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with Pastor D. Dean Benton officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) following the interment. A memorial has been established for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
