Mrs. Rachel "Betty" McWhortor, 91, of Burlington died at 2:12 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2017, at Danville Care Center.
Born June 8, 1925 in Quincy, Illinois, she was the daughter of James Arthur and Frances May (Smith) Cummings. She married Mason Cary, they later divorced. On May 2, 1959 she married Craig E. McWhortor at Kahoka Methodist Church in Kahoka, Missouri. He preceded her in death on September 12, 2003.
Mrs. McWhorter was a member of West Hill United Methodist Church. She enjoyed ceramics. After her retirement she and Craig enjoyed working at Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO for several years.
Survivors include one son, James M. (Chris) Cary of Danville; three grandchildren, Brad (Amy) Cary, Todd (Debbie) Cary and Suzanne (Tobias) Lunsford; six great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Liz Eichor and Anna Alderson; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and one sister.
