Robert Allen McVeigh, 75, of Burlington, died at 9:15 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at Burlington Care Center. Born June 27, 1932, in St. Paul, Minn., he was the son of Harvey Ray and Lilian Cowan McVeigh. On May 1, 1982, he married Vivian Tuttle in Burlington. Mr. McVeigh worked for ISP Security for 36 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed going to the Burlington Bees baseball games and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. Survivors include his wife, Vivian McVeigh of Burlington; one stepson, Ronald Tuttle of Paducah, Ky.; one stepdaughter, Sandee Oetken of New London; five stepgrandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Smith of Spanaway, Wash., and Betty Clemenson of Farmington; one brother, Raymond McVeigh of Fort Madison; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mona, and one daughter in infancy. Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at West Avenue Baptist Church in Burlington. The funeral for Mr. McVeigh will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at West Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Kirk Bennett officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for West Avenue Baptist Church.
