Dr. Harry N. McMurray, 84, of Burlington, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2009, in Burlington Care Center. Born July 3, 1925, in DuQuoin, Illinois, he was the son of Everett and Irene Howell McMurray. On September 2, 1978, he married Pat Moehlman in Burlington. He was previously married to Norma Carmichael. Dr. McMurray was a graduate of DuQuoin High School, The University of Southern Illinois in Carbondale, and The University of Illinois Medical School. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943-1945. Dr. McMurray began practicing medicine in Burlington in 1953. He partnered with Dr. Warren Zabloudil from 1960 until 1990. He continued to practice medicine at Health West Clinic for another 10 years. He loved serving families in the Burlington community. He was a member of Parkside First Baptist Church for over 50 years, where he most recently served as deacon emeritus. He also was a member of the American Medical Association, American family Practice Association, Shutterbug Camera Club, and Central Illinois Camera Club Association. He enjoyed photography, gardening, and camping. Survivors include his wife, Pat McMurray of Burlington; three daughters, Nancy McMurray (John Smith) of Missoula, Montana, Patty McMurray (Ed McCullough) of Denver, Colorado, and PegiTehan (Tim Tehan) of Springboro, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Mariah Smith, Natalie Smith, Molly McCullough, Abby McCullough, Becky Tehan, Peter Tehan (Katie Tehan and geat-granddaughter, Lilly Tehan), and Jacob Tehan, and a half brother, John McMurray. He was preceded in death by one son, Daniel E. McMurray, his parents, stepmother Sylvia McMurray, and his first wife. Friends may call from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday, September 17th and 18th, in Lunning Chapel. The funeral for Dr. McMurray will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 19th, at Parkside First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Marshall Jackman officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service at the church. A memorial has been established for Parkside First Baptist Church.
