John Wesley McMickle, beloved husband and father, formerly of Peoria, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, as a patient at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers, Florida.
John was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, on November 5, 1928. He was one of six children of Alice and Wendell Leroy McMickle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and James; and one sister, Doris.
He is survived by his sister, Shirley Johnson; and brother, Ronald McMickle. Also surviving are his wife, Suzanne Beth McMickle; sons, Robert L. (and Jill) of Peoria and J.T. McMickle of Roswell, Georgia. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Katherine Sivertsen, Ryan P. McMickle, Robert J. McMickle, Michael P. McMickle and Margaret B. McMickle; along with three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Creighton and Hudson Sivertsen.
John resided 30 years in Peoria, Illinois, and 10 years in Washington, Illinois, before moving to southwestern Florida.
John will be remembered for a quick smile and laugh, cheerful disposition and strong family ties with his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all, but especially by his wife of 63 years, who lovingly cared for him the last eight years of his life.
Family services will be held at a later date.
