Ronald Foster McIlhenny, 76, of Burlington, died at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2008, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born August 27, 1932, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he was the son of Collin and Anita Foster McIlhenny. On August 12, 1962, he maried Phyllis G. Pfadenhauer in Burlington. Mr. McIlhenny worked in production at Champion Spark Plug in Burlington. He served in the Navy from 1950 to 1953. He was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed watching the History Channel, woodworking, crossword puzzles and feeding birds, squirrels and chipmunks. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Scott McIlhenny of Keokuk, John McIlhenny of Des Moines, and Brian McIlhenny of Macomb, IL; four grandchildren; two stepsisters, Joan Marfin and Mary Lou Fegley, both of Texas; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather and one sister. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Prugh's Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends. The graveside funeral with military rites for Mr. McIlhenny will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, with Barbara Michael and Brian McIlhenny officiating. Memorials have been established for Great River Medical Center Hospice House and Special Needs Foundation.
