Obituary
Rilla H. McDade, 74, and of Burlington, Iowa since 1956, died Sunday, September 24, 2006, at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington, after a lengthy illness. Rilla was born on January 20, 1932 in Washington County, Georgia, the daughter of Ben Hill and Juanita Lord Hammock. She was a graduate of Miller High School in Macon, Georgia. On January 16, 1954, she was united in marriage to Edward McDade in Macon. Prior to her retirement, Rilla worked in management and administrative capacities at IRC, Philco-Ford Aero-Nutronics Division at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, in advertising at the Burlington Hawk-Eye, Answer-Iowa and BFI. Rilla was also a sponsor and chaperone for the Southeastern Iowa Community College Blackhawks. She loved music, playing bingo and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Rilla, being one of ten children, is survived by her husband, Edward McDade of Burlington, Iowa; children, Susan Wilson of Burlington, Joseph McDade and his wife Barbara of Overland Park, Kansas, Amy Allen of Burlington and Scott McDade and his wife Kimberly of Spring Hill, Kansas; seven grandchildren; brother, Bill Hammock of Macon, Georgia; her loving niece, Carolyn Adams of Austell, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her parents and eight brothers and sisters preceded her in death. The family would like to thank the staff of Great River Medical Center and the Klein Center and Dr. Rashid for the wonderful care they have provided over the past years.
