Margaret J. McCune, 86, of Muscatine, formerly of Morning Sun, died at 1:35 a.m. Friday, December 10, 2010, at Trinity Regional Health Center in Bettendorf. Born August 23, 1924, in Marion, she was the daughter of Fred and Dolly Izer Neal. On December 29, 1943, she married Walter C. McCune in Burlington. He died December 26, 1989. Mrs. McCune worked for Sylvania in Burlington, Thatcher's in Muscatine, and Pioneer Hi-Bred Seed Co. in Mount Pleasant, retiring in 1993. She attended Zion United Church of Christ in Burlington. She enjoyed the coffee group at Cottage Grove, potluck dinners, and holidays. Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Roe of Muscatine, and Nancy Harvey of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one son, Kenneth McCune of Belle Chasse, LA; four grandchildren; great-grandchildren; one sister, Isadore Martin of Bettendorf; and one brother, Fred Neal of Cedar Rapids. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. McCune will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Muscatine Humane Society.
