Obituary

Walter C. McCune, 65, of 209 South Blair St., Morning Sun, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 1989, at his home. Born April 14, 1924 in Morning Sun, he was the son of Charle and Effie M. Nelson McCune. He married Margaret Neal on Dec. 29, 1943, in Burlington. He was a farmer and trucker. He was a member of Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 112 of Morning Sun and Moose Lodge of Burlington, He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Surviving are his wife; his father; two daughters, Mrs. Sandy Roe of Muscatine and Mrs. Nancy Richers of Colorado Springs, Co; one son, Kenneth McCune serving in the U.S. Navy in New Orleans, la; one sister, Betty Jean Dewein of West Point and four grand-children. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 1989, at Lunning Chapel, Moose rites will be held at 7 p.m. at the chapel. The funeral service for Mr. McCune will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Mel Miller officiating. Burial with military rites by American Legion Post 112 will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the American Legion and the Morning Sun Ambulance Service.
