John Wesley Barksdale Jr, 51, of Burlington, died at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 1, 2017, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
Born February 9, 1965, in Houston, TX, he was the son of John and Ora Lee Barksdale. On May 21, 1991, he married Holly Estelle Berry in Burlington.
John worked in the satellite packing department at Winegard.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
He was a member of New Fellowship Christian Church. He enjoyed listening to music, particularly Jimi Hendrix, watching crime shows, and writing poetry.
Survivors include his wife, Holly Barksdale; two daughters, Mistique Barksdale and Kellye Davis; one son, Joshua (Jessica) Lillard; three grandchildren, Janae, Jrue, and Jayda; one sister, Cynthia Reed; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, January 13, 2017 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Barksdale will be 1:00 PM Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Shane A. McCampbell officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove.
