Norma Partridge McCartney, 81, of Burlington, died on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. at the Great River Hospice House. Born October 10, 1927, in Chester, Illinois, she was the daughter of Cecil and Faye Goode Partridge. On May 1, 1949, she married Robert McCartney in Burlington. He preceded her in death on November 20, 2003. Mrs. McCartney worked for Art Hazel Insurance for 23 years. She then worked for the Trust Department at Burlington Bank & Trust, AAA Travel, and began her own travel agency, Let's Travel, in 1984. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Des Moines County Historical Society, Burlington Woman's Club, King's Daughters where she served on the board, Art Guild of Burlington, P.E.O. and the E.C. Blackmar Order of the Eastern Star where she served as a past Worthy Matron. She enjoyed golfing, reading, traveling and playing bridge. Survivors include a son, Kevin (Linda) McCartney of Burlington; a daughter, Mary Ann McCartney of Burlington; two grandchildren, Nicholas (Sharon) McCartney of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Andrew McCartney of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; and two sisters, Zelda Butler and Wanda Reed. The funeral services for Mrs. Norma P. McCartney will be held on Wednesday, March 4th at 11:00 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Deb Miller Kinney will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3rd, in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends following an Order of the Eastern Star service at 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Memorials have been established for First Presbyterian Church, Great River Hospice and Bickford Cottage.
