H. Dean Russell, 78, of West Burlington and formerly of Burlington, died at 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at his residence. Born October 24, 1927 in Georgetown, Arkansas, he was the son of John Christian and Mabel I. Brent Russell. On April 2, 1946 he married Helen Inez Metcalf in Burlington. Mr. Russell was a press operator at J.I. Case Company for 18 years retiring in 1992. He was of the Protestant faith and enjoyed camping trips on Father's Day and fishing and hunting especially with his son and grandsons. Survivors include his wife, Helen Russell of West Burlington; one son, James Dean (Patty) Russell of rural Burlington; two grandsons, Luke (Trisha) Russell of rural Burlington and Bo (Terra) Russell of rural Sperry; two great granddaughters, Ava and Hannah; three sisters, Ora Cole, Ruth Dirth and Kay West all of Burlington; and two brothers, Robert Russell of Gladstone, Illinois and Tom Russell of Burlington. His son, Charles Michael Russell; parents; and two brothers preceded him in death. A memorial has been established for the Salvation Army.
