Mrs. Mary Cordell Bates, 68, died Sunday at Memphis, Tenn., where she had been living with a daughter, Mrs. Charles Dean McAdams.
A native of Industry, Ill., she was born Nov. 10, 1892, to Horace M. and Anna Belle Jones Cordell, and came to Burlington as a young girl. She was married to William Bates in i928. They moved to Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. He died in 1959.
Mrs. Bates attended First Methodist church when she lived here.
Surviving are her Father, Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Mrs. Edward Skogg, Monroe, La., and Mrs. McAdams; a brother, Clint E. Cordell, Galesburg, Ill.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one niece.
Her mother, husband, a brother and one sister are dead.
Services will be at 10 am Wednesday at Prugh’s Chapel. Dr. George Hunt will officiate. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery. The body is to arrive here late tonight.
