Obituary
Loren L. May, 82, of Burlington, died at 3:15 pm Saturday, September 1, 2012, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born February 20, 1930, in Montgomery County, MO, he was the son of Stanley Stanton and Peirrie Belle Steele May. On May 10, 1959, he married Mary Magdalene Williams in Kansas City, MO.
Loren was a supervisor at Exide Battery for 39 years.
He graduated from high school in Wellsville, MO.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
He was of the Christian faith. He was a Kansas City Chiefs fan, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR, golfing, gardening, and especially spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; four sons, Michael (Sherry) May, Jeffrey (Linda) May, Robert (Darcie) May, and Kevin May, all of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; Janelle May, Natalie Helvik, Ryan May, Zachary May, Kelsey May, Taylor May, Nick May, Hillary May, Sierra May, Rachel May, Dalton May, and Kylie May; four great-grandchildren, Alec, Luca, Josalin and Jamesy Helvik; two brothers, Stanley May and Norman May, both of Kansas City, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and four brothers.
Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. May will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at Thielen Funeral Home with Chaplain Randy Gearhart officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Thielen Funeral Home following the service. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral. Inurnment will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Southeastern Renal Dialysis and Great River Hospice.
