Harry "Hank" Mauthe Jr., 77, of Burlington, died at 6:08 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born Nov. 10,1929, in Burlington, he was the son of Harry F. and Frances Mary Max Mauthe. Mr. Mauthe worked in quality control at IAAP for 41 years. He served in the Army infantry and was a Korean War veteran. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1948 and attended Burlington Community College for two years. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and also was in a book club. He enjoyed woodworking, refinishing wood and reading. Survivors include one brother, Norman "Bud" Mauthe, of Burlington; and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one nephew. The graveside funeral service for Mr. Mauthe will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites at 11 a.m. in Prugh's Chapel before the service. Memorials have been established for Hope Haven Area Development Center, Des Moines County HumaneSociety and Zion United Church of Christ.
