Jean L. Masters, 87, of Burlington, died at 4:50 a.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born on February 11, 1930 in Bentonsport, Iowa, she was the daughter of William Walter and Mae Elizabeth (Harper) Corns.
Jean was the manager of the Fort Madison Historical Center of North Lee County Historical Society for 5 years until her retirement in 1992. She previously worked for Planned Parenthood in Fort Madison and Mount Pleasant and I.A.A.P.
She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and traveling. She was a lifetime member of the North Lee County Historical Society.
Survivors include one son, Alex Masters of Fort Madison; two granddaughters, Jessica and Allison; one great grandson, Park; one sister, Betty Cooper of Burlington; her niece and foster daughter, Anita Lee of Farmington; daughter-in-law, Robin Masters of Indianapolis, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Andrew and Anthony Masters, two grandsons in infancy, one sister, one half-brother and five half-sisters.
Private family service and inurnment will be held at Aspen Grove Cemetery. According to her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the care of Lunning Chapel.
A memorial has been established for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
