Obituary

James E. Barnes, 79, of 316 S. Gunnison Ave, Burlington, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 1994, at Elm View Care Center.
Born Aug. 24, 1915, in Quincy, Ill., he was the son of Emer John and Maude Anna Hanson Barnes. On April 6, 1939, he married Harriett Smyth in Burlington.
Mr. Barnes was a retired welder and had worked at the Klein Manufacturing Company.
He was a WWII veteran who had served in the European Theater. He was of the Protestant faith. He was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Thomas Barnes of Los Angeles, Calif., and Michael Barnes of Fort Worth, TX; two grandchildren, Sarah Barnes and Samuel Barnes, both of West Burlington; one brother, Donald Barnes of Belmont, Calif.; and two sisters, Doris Kulp of Burlington, and Elisabeth Retterath of Ledgerwood, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter and one brother.
Mr. Barnes has been cremated. There will be no family visitation or funeral service.
A memorial has been established at the Sheagren Funeral Home.
