Nettie Belle Brown, 92, of Burlington, Iowa, died at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington, Iowa, on Thursday, July 24, 2013.
Born on May 2, 1921 in Creighton, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Joseph and Rosetta Dawson Calloway.
Nettie worked at IAAP as a janitor. She enjoyed socializing, playing bingo, crossword puzzles and getting her hair fixed. One of her favorite quotes was “The nest is warm but the bird is gone.” She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by two daughters, Rosetta Marsh of Burlington, Iowa and Gloria Bradshaw of Ontario, California; two granddaughters, Regina and Rolanda; three great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
Graveside committal services for Nettie Belle Brown will be held on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, Iowa. Elder Dorothy Timmons will officiate. No formal visitation is planned. A memorial has been established for The Activity Fund at Klein Center
