Mrs. Helen D. Bargman, 94, of Burlington died Friday, January 30, 2015, at Great River Medical Center - Klein Center.
Born September 11, 1920 at Mercy Hospital in Burlington, she was the daughter of Arthur H. and Clara (Jacobson) Poggemiller. On February 14, 1942 she married John E. Bargman in St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1990.
Helen was a dedicated and loving daughter, sister, wife and mother. She enjoyed her family and friends, traveling, reading, and knitting for her family. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Mary Elizabeth Circle and the Piecemaker of the church, the Jane A. Delano Association, and the Burlington Woman's Club. Helen also did volunteer work at the Phelps House for Medical Memories.
Survivors include one son, John Bargman (Deborah) of Granger, Iowa; two daughters, Jane Muller (Louis) of Reno, Nevada and Ricki Trosen (Wally) of Kirksville, Missouri; two grandchildren, Kelly Stark (Neil) of Louisville, Kentucky and Bennett Shapiro (Kelly) of High Point, North Carolina; three great-grandchildren, Reagan Stark and Kaitlyn and Ryan Shapiro; one sister, Judy Furnald (Everett Hatch); and three nephews, Nick Furnald, Jay Furnald and Peter Furnald (Kathy) and their two children, Madison and Alexander.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sueann in 1947; her parents; one sister, Alice; and two brothers, Arthur Jr., and Mark.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 4th, at Lunning Chapel.
The funeral service for Mrs. Bargman will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 5th, at Messiah Lutheran Church with Pastor Susanne Smith officiating. Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. The family thanks the staff at Great River Medical Center - Klein Center and Great River Hospice for their support, kindness, and friendship to our mother and to the family.
A memorial has been established to Messiah Lutheran Church in Burlington.
