Donna Annette Malnar, 58, of Burlington, died at 4:43 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Geat River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born Nov. 14, 1942, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Robert and Gladys Fladt Sowden. She married Alex Malnar on Aug. 13, 1955, in Swanton. He died Sept. 9, 2000. Mrs. Malnar was a homemaker. She was of the Christian faith, and enjoyed baking, houseplants, and being around people. Survivors include her mother, Gladys Rollins of Burlington; two sons, Alex Steven Malnar of Wever and Danny James Malnar of West Burlington; one daughter, Tammy Rosas of West Burlngton; three grandchildren; four sisters, Bev Sammons and Margaret Cechota, both of Burlington, Barbara Hodson of Piedmont, MO, and Penny Brueck of Des Moines; one step-sister, Vickie Baldosier of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father. Her body has been cremated. Friends may call after 8 a.m. Monday at Hass Funeral Home. There will be no family visitation. The memorial service for Mrs. Malnar will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Hass Funeral Home, with Mr. Robert M. Housby officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the American Cancer Society.
