John Thomas Mahoney, age
76 passed away at his home on June 15, 1995. He was born July 12, 1918 in Burlington, Iowa. He was the son of Thomas Cornelius and Patience Margaret Jones Mahoney. He married Evelyn Mae Schindall in Burlington, Iowa on September 20, 1938.
He was a Past Worthy President of Fraternal Order of Eagles, 150.
He was an upholster at C&E Company. He also had worked at the Burlington Broom Factory.
He served the the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hancock during WWII. He was in Tokyo Bay when the Peace Treaty with Japan was signed.
He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to fish, and duck hunt. He loved being with his family at their cabin by Meekers Elevator.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years. 2 daughters, Mary Evelyn (Spencer) Honsey and Nancy Joann (Ronald) Tisor. He has 6 Grandchildren, Candice Kay (Dale) Travis, Jana Joleen (Kyle)Morgan, John Thomas (Melinda) Fuller, Thomas Charles Tisor, Rhonda Lynn Tisor, and Evelyn Jean Tisor. He has 8 Great Grand Children, Matthew, Michael & John Fuller. Jamey & JoLynn Deen. Davin & Caitlyn Travis. Kyler Morgan.
Funeral was from Prugh Funeral Home. Burial was in Memorial Lawn in Aspen Grove Cemetery with VFW Post 10102.
