Mrs. Mildred Florence Lyons, 93, of Bettendorf and formerly of Burlington died at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Davenport Lutheran Home. Born August 29, 1918 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Frank and Caroline Helmig Weigel. On April 4, 1939 she married Paul Lyons at Shiloh Church. He preceded her in death on November 24, 1999. Mrs. Lyons was a homemaker and in later years worked at Winegard Co. for 15 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, cooking and baking. Survivors include one son, James (Barbara) Lyons of Miramar Beach, Florida; one daughter, Elaine (Charles) Guthrie of Bettendorf; one grandson, Christopher (Karen) Martin; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Ronny Campbell) Lyons, Heather (Lawrence) Cohen and Michelle Martin and her son, Coleman Otto. Also surviving are her friends at Jane's Place. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, one infant daughter, two brothers and two sisters. The funeral service for Mrs. Lyons will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 10th, in Lunning Chapel. The Rev Michael Orthel will officiate. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
