Orvilla Ethel Lyons, 81, of Burlington, died at 9:37 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born Monday, May 2, 1927, in West Point, Iowa, she was the daughter of Orville Raymond and Ethel May Kutcher Steward. She was the owner and operator of Orvilla's Beauty Salon for 48 years. She was a member of Women of the Moose. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, and spending time along the Mississippi River at her cabin. Survivors include one son, Curtis (Joyce) Lyons of Burlington; two grand- children, Lisa Erlewine and John Lyons; one great-grandson, Justin Rettig; a special friend, Robert Paul; one sister, Naomi Marley of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Morton Jones, one great grandchild, and three sisters, Opal, Betty, and Velda. As per her request, cremation has been accorded. Services will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established to the Special Needs Foundation of Des Moines County. The Hass-Thielen Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
