Timothy Dale Lyon, 27, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Burlington, died accidentally at his home at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000. Born August 26, 1973, in Burlington, he was the son of Melanie Moore Lyon and Richard Lyon. He was engaged to Meredith Williams of Cedar Rapids on February 11, 2000. He was a 1991 graduate of Burlington High School, active in speech and music. He was winner of the State of Iowa Optimist Club Young Orator Award in 1989. He attended the University of Iowa. He was active in theater, and was stage manager for numerous productions in Iowa City. He was an account manager for APAC Telemarketing in Cedar Rapids for 6 1/2 years, and had recently been employed by Riverstone Incorporated of Lisbon as manager of client services. Survivors include his parents; his fiance and her children, Teesha and Marcus Williams of Cedar Rapids; his sister, Jenny Lyon of Burlington; his brother, Jeff Lyon of West Des Moines; his stepmother, Karen Lyon of Burlington; his step-sister, Kelly Johnson and her husband, Rick, of Ottumwa; his step-brother, Brian Wolgemuth and wife, Erica, of Burlington; his maternal grandparents, Howard and Ramona Moore of North Fort Myers, FL; his paternal grandparents, Wilbur and Virginia Lyon of Donnellson; his step-grandmother, Charlene Mooney of Burlington; one aunt, three uncles, and nine cousins. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. today at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Lyon will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel, with the Revs. Dennis Tevis and Richard Purcell officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
