Miss Dorothy J. Banks, 73, Evanston, Ill., who was an early guidance counselor in the Burlington school system, died Monday night Oct. 1, at the Presbyterian home in Evanston. She was born Oct. 17, 1899, in Burlington, the daughter of Robert and Mary Gertrude Parr Banks.
Miss Banks was graduated from the University of Iowa Phi Beta Kappa. She taught in Burlington after her graduation, moving to La Grange, Ill., where she continued her career as the dean of women at Lyons Twp. High School until retirement. She originated the guidance committee of the National Education Assn. in Evanston. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, LaGrange.
Surviving; one brother Kenneth, Oakbrook, Ill.; many friends.
