Kenneth E. Lunsman, 64, of rural West Burlington died Friday, Oct. 5, 2007, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Born Nov. 1, 1942, in Mason City, he was the son of Howard and Beada Kollasch Lunsman. On Sept. 30, 1972, he married Katherine L. Harms in Spencer. Mr. Lunsman worked in sales at U.S. Cellular, McGregor Furniture, Hy-Vee Floral and AAL Insurance. He owned a Coast-to-Coast Store in Heron Lake, Minn., from 1975 to 1982 and in retirement worked for H&R Block. He was a graduate of Spencer High School, attended Mason City Junior College and the University of Iowa. He received a business degree from Buena Vista University and attended ROTC school. He was a captain in the Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, serving as president of the church council for two years. He played piano and pipe organ. Starting at age 15, he played for Lutheran churches in southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa. He enjoyed yard work, working on the computer, floral design and interior decorating. Survivors include his wife; one son, Kraig E. Lunsman of West Burlington; one daughter, Kristel L. Lunsman of West Burlington; and two sisters, Beverly Lunsman of Mason City and Karen Wee of Spencer. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Lunsman will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel, with Kimberly Louwagie officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. A memorial has been established.
