Mrs. Gertrude M. Balzer, 75, West Burlington Avenue, West Burlington, died in Burlington Medical Center at 5 pm Monday, Aug 1.
She was born Dec. 1, 1907, in Henry County, to Walter and Estelle Brown Hull. She married Martin Balzer July 20, 1926, in Davenport; he died May 13, 1982. Mrs. Balzer attended the West Burlington United Methodist Church.
Surviving: two sons, Robert and Ronald, both of West Burlington; four daughters, Phyllis Breuer, Hillsboro, Donna Hightower, Mt. Pleasant, Mabel Peterson, Sperry, and Helen Miller, West Burlington; sister Lora Dennesdon, Minneapolis, Minn.; 26 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral: 1 pm Thursday, Lunning Chapel, the Rev. William Strickland; Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Des Moines County Visiting Nurses, West Burlington United Methodist Church, and Salem Congregational Church.
