Martin(Marty) Balzer, 76, West Burlington Avenue, West Burlington, died at his home at 12:15 pm Thursday, May 13.
He was born May 27, 1905, at West Burlington to George and Hatt Weik Balzer. He married Gertrude Kennedy, July 26, 1926, in Davenport.
He retired after 47 years at the Burlington Northern shops.
Surviving; The wife; two sons, Robert and Ronald, both of West Burlington; four daughters, Donna Hightower, Mt. Pleasant, Phyllis Breuer, Hillsboro, Mabel Peterson, Sperry, and Helen Miller, West Burlington; brother Ray Balzer, Burlington; 26 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral; 11 am Saturday at Lunning Chapel, the Rev. Larry A. Winkler; Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial for the West Burlington United Methodist Church has been established.
