Paul Duane Lowary, 55, of Burlington, died at 1039 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.
Born Aug. 12, 1975, in Stillwell, Ill., he was the son of Paul T. and Gladys Crear Lowary. He married Linda K. Olomon on April 11, 1975, in Carthage, Ill.
Mr. Lowary was a 1959 graduate of Burlington High School and served in the Iowa National Guard for six years. He had been a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years.
He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Burlington and the National Right to Life Association.
Survivors include his wife; his mother of Burlington; one daughter, Dawn Stayton of Burlington; two sons, Michael Lowary and Tad Lowary, both of Burlington; one brother, Keith Lowary of Webster City; three sisters, Louise Lowary, Patricia Allen and Susy Parrish, all of Burlington; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Friends may call after noon Friday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 830 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Lowary will be 3 p.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God Church, with the Revs. Terry Terrell and Norman Wenig officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.

A Burlington man was in serious condition Monday after he shot himself in the head Sunday.
Paul D. Lowary, 55, 412 Gertrude St., was reported missing by his daughter about 730 a.m. Sunday. He was found in his pickup in a corn field off of North Prairie Grove Road about 5 p.m.
Lowary was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was taken to Burlington Medical Center and transferred to St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Ill.
