Ozetta Elizabeth Loose, 89, of Burlington died at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, at Potomac Hospital in Woodbridge, Va. Born Oct. 1, 1918, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Joseph and Myrtle Carithers Wagler. On May 29, 1942, she married Harold Loose in Burlington. He died August 5, 2006. Mrs. Loose worked at Klein's Dress Shop, Woolworth's Dime Store, and in the office and on the Sheaffer Pen Company production line assembling radios for the military during World War II. She was Burlington High School graduate and completed several business school courses. In the late 1930s, she sang with her sisters in the Rhythm Twisters, which performed at country and western venues, minstrel shows and church functions. She was a 65-year member of First United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school. She was an active PTA member, a member of Burlington Civic Music and ARRP. She was a lifelong stamp collector, specializing in U.S. issues, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. She enjoyed writing, poetry, reading, music and volunteer work. Survivors include one son, Greg Loose of Woodbridge; two grandchildren; three sisters, Eva Schafer and Gertrude Fletcher of Burlington and Leona Sissel of Muscatine. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel, where family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Loose will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in First United Church of Christ in Burlington, with the Rev. JudyAnn Morse officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for First United Church of Christ.
