John R. Lohmann, 75, of Burlington, died at 5:48 PM Thursday, March 17, 2016, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born January 31, 1941, in Burlington, he was the son of John Ralph and Martha Louise Stevenson Lohmann Sr. On September 17, 1960, he married Rosie Osbourne at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Burlington.
John worked in many capacities for Mason & Hanger over forty four years, retiring as a Senior Contract Administrator in 2008.
He earned his B.A. at Iowa Wesleyan College, in Mt. Pleasant in January of 1964 and his M.B.A. from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL in May of 1974.
He was of Baptist faith. He was a member of American Defense Preparedness Association (ADPA) and was the IA/IL Chapter Director and Treasurer, IOP Federal Credit Union, and Travelers Protective Association of America (TPA) for over 50 years and served on the National Board of Directors from 2006-2010, National Vice President from 2010-2011, and National President from 2011-2012. He enjoyed golf, racquetball, do it yourself projects, skiing, traveling and spending time with his family.
Survivors include wife, and one daughter,Kim Lohmann of Kenosha, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Larry & Don Lohmann.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Monday at the Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home and Crematory.
The memorial service for Mr. Lohmann will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 21, 2016, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory with Richard L. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home & Crematory following the burial.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for T.P.A. Scholarship Trust Fund for the hearing impaired.
