Mrs. Clara Balkema, 60, invalid wife of an Internal Revenue Service official, died Thursday in a fire in her one-story frame home.
She apparently suffocated in the dense smoke. Her body was found on the floor of a bedroom.
Firemen said the blaze, which was extinguished in five minutes, started near the furnace.
