Forrest R. Logan, 83, of Burlington, died at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Born July 14, 1923, in Franklin Township, he was the son of Richard W. and Nina 0. Grannaman Logan He married Shirley Hollingsworth in 1941. He later married Delores Samberg in 1981. She died April 26 1993. Mr. Logan retired in 1985 as an agent supervisor for the Iowa Department of Revenue after 23 years of service. He attended Sperry Consolidated Schools. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served from 1944 until 1946. He then was a longtime member of the Army Reserves, retiring as a master sergeant. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Burlington Kiwanis Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 150, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 579, Friday Senior Bowling League and Flint Hills Golf Course. He was a life member of V.F.W. Post 10102, where he was a past commander. He was named a All-American Post Commander for the years 1980 to 1981 and was the first lowan to be chosen captain, He enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling, monthly card club. Catfish Bend Casino, music and cooking. Survivors include one son, Jerry Logan of Urbandale; three daughters, Linda Tickel of Burlington, Katy Crowl of West Des Moines and Julie Heam of Carson City, Nev.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Logan of Danville; and five sisters, Dolores Mitchell of Lakewood, Colo., Janet Willson and Marilyn Johnston, both of Burlington, Sally Johnson of Park Ridge, IL., and Pat Karwatowicz of Naperville, IL Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Logan will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. William Saizmann officiating. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Burial will in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for First Presbyterian Church and V.F.W. Post 10102.
