Dwight Gene “Slim” “Pappy” Lippert, 72, of Burlington, died at 1:00 AM, Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at his home. Born April 10, 1932, in Ottumwa, he was the son of Winter R. and Edna Nolan Lippert. On July 1, 1969, he married Mary L. Suelter in Macomb, IL. Mr. Lippert worked at Lehigh Leopold for 17 years and for Tuthill Murray Turbo machinery Corporation for 30 years. He was of the protestant faith. He belonged to the local Machinist Union. He was a Minnesota Vikings fan, enjoyed golfing, watching movies, collecting radios and clocks, Minnesota State fair, Jerry Lee Lewis (Wild Music), and working. He loved to shop anytime and especially loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Mary; one son, Rick L. (Patti O’Neil) Hill of Burlington; one daughter, Regina L. M. (Kenan) Drebenstedt of Mediapolis; six grandchildren, Maralea Hill, Taralyn Hill, Charlie O’Neil Jr., Mallory Drebenstedt, Madolyn Drebenstedt, Maxwell Drebenstedt; one brother, Joe D. (Lucy) Lippert of Ft. Leonardwood, MO; two sisters, Betty (Frank) Johnson and Judy (Terry) Hinesley both of Burlington; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Visitation will be after 9:00 AM Sunday, January 16, at the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM. The Funeral Service for Mr. Lippert will be 10:00 AM Monday, January 17, in the Chapel of the Hass-Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Dean Moberg officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established.
