Roy Edward Balbort, 87, of Burlington, died at 6:05 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 1999, at Burlington Medical Center. Born September 4, 1911, in Burlington, he was the son of William F. and Minnie Giesie Balbort. On June 5, 1959, he married Jacqueline "Jackie" L. Abrisz in Lomax, Ill. Mr. Balbort was a sales manaager for Don Pease Co. before retiring. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Eagles Lodge, and the Old Timers Baseball Association. Survivors include his wife; one son, Roy Balbort of Burlington; one granddaughter, Liberty Balbort of Burlington; two nephews; and one niece. He was preceded in death by three brothers, one his twin, and one sister. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Monday in Prugh's Chapel. There will be no family visitation. The graveside committal service for Mr. Balbort will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Carl Engstrom officiating. A memorial has been established for the Old Timers Baseball Association.
