Marvin Hall Lindsey, 88, of West Burlington, died at 10:02 AM Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born March 22, 1929, in Fayetteville, AR, he was the son of Robert Jardeen and Bessie Alice Hall Lindsey. On June 15, 1968, he married Eleanor "Ruth" Hamlin in Miami, OK.
Marvin worked as a pipe fitter for many employers over 50 years, and was a pipe fitter for Millard for 15 years.
He was a 1947 graduate of Monett High School in Monett, Missouri.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving as a Seaman 1st Class from 1948 to 1951.
He was a member of West Burlington Christian Church. In the 1960s, he was the President of Local #658 in Joplin, Missouri, Shriner in "The Funsters," he was a member of the Golden Oldies, the Elks Lodge, and the Moose Lodge.Marvin enjoyed fishing, gardening, carpentry, and antique cars. He loved his pet poodle, Millie and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth, one daughter, Brandy (Troy) Ostwinkle of Hiawatha, IA; one son, Ron (Lisa) Lindsey of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren; Cody (friend Alex), Camber (Nolan), and Connor; two nieces and one nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one nephew and two sisters; Roberta and Lola.
The family to receive friends from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Lindsey will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Steven E. Parker officiating. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the West Burlington Christian Church following the burial.
Memorials have been established for Golden Oldies, West Burlington Christian Church and Great River Hospice.
