Mr. Russell V. Lindblad, 77, of Burlington died at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born January 6, 1936 in Drayton, North Dakota, he was the son of Axel Victor and Mary Ellen Meyer Lindblad. On February 27, 1954 he married Arlene Lofthus in Drayton.
Mr. Lindblad was the supervisor for Rutherford Potato Company and retired from Vista Bakery as a sanitation supervisor.
Mr. Lindblad was of the Lutheran faith. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, was a Minnesota Twins baseball and Vikings football fan and collected baseball cards and NASCAR cars. He had enjoyed hunting in his earlier years.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene Lindblad of Burlington; one son, Mark Lindblad of Burlington; one daughter, Debra (Dennis) Sink of Burlington; five grandchildren, Scott Sink, Chris Sink, Kayley Smith, Matt Sink and Ashley Harwood; 11 great grandchildren; one sister, Marian Dougherty of Burlington and one brother, Harrison Lindblad of Grafton, North Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and five brothers.
Friends may call from noon until 7 p.m. Monday, October 14th, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m.
The funeral service for Mr. Lindblad will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 15th, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Dean Graber officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for Des Moines County Animal Shelter.
