Lloyd Lee Barker, 71, a former Burlington resident, died Wednesday at Iowa City after an extended illness.
Mr. Barker was born Dec. 4, 1896, at Downing, Mo., the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John D Barker. On June 12, 1918, he marriedSally Lucille Penn at Shanbaugh. He was a retired switchman for the CB&Q. In 1958, he moved to West Branch, where he was associated with his son Gilbert, in operating the Barker Funeral home. He was a member of the West Branch Methodist church and the brotherhood of RR Trainmen.
Surviving; His wife; two sons, Gilbert, of West Branch, and Kenneth of Burlington; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Doyle, of Danville; two brothers, Clarence, Davenport, and Everett of Dallas, Tex.; a sister, Mrs. Wesley Lauth, of Burlington; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Services: Friday, 2 pm West Branch Methodist church, Rev. Roger Tappmeyer, and Harland Gant. The body will be brought to the Sheagren Funeral home Friday afternoon, with services at 11 am Saturday. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
